Apparently, there was no local study done to determine the reliability and validity of the Illinois Agility Test and the Shuttle Test. A pilot study was done on 21st October, 2010. The pilot test was conducted on 31 subjects in the morning. The subjects were college students who signed up for the compulsory co-curriculum programme (ASCG1132 Badminton) of TARC. The subjects were semester two co-curriculum students for the academic year 2010/2011 (October to December). They were not included in the main research.

The pilot study was conducted on the Illinois Agility Test and the Shuttle Test. The testing procedures were the same as the pre test and post test. Two badminton courts, which were the same courts used for pre test and post test, were used to conduct the tests; one court for the Illinois Agility Test and the other court for the Shuttle Test.

Subjects were divided into two groups. One group of the subjects were tested on the Illinois Agility Test and the other group were tested on the Shuttle Test. Upon the completion of the both tests, subjects were switched to another test. Five minutes rest was given between the two tests.

The results of the pilot test showed that the Illinois Agility Test has a validity of .976 using Cronbach Alpha and reliability of .965 using test-retest. And the Shuttle Test has a validity of .933 using Cronbach Alpha and reliability of .933 using test-retest.
